Frequently asked questions
Everything below is read from the same place the rest of the site reads it, so it cannot quietly disagree with the product.
The questions
- Where do your questions come from?
- They are written against the Texas exam content outline — the document the real exam is built from — and then read against the law a second time by a different reviewer before anything is served. The primary source sits on every explanation, so you can check any answer we give you. There are 202 verified questions in the bank today. See some, free
- Are these the real exam questions?
- No, and anyone selling you those is selling you something they should not have. The exam's own questions are confidential. Every question here is original work written against the published content outline, which is the part the vendor does publish and the part the exam is built from.
- How is this different from a national question bank?
- A national bank writes one set of questions and puts a state label on the cover. Texas's own statutes and rules are entire sections of the Texas exam, and that is exactly the part a national bank cannot get right. We do one state at a time instead. The Texas bank
- Are you a pre-licensing education provider?
- No. We are exam preparation only, and we are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any state department of insurance or any testing vendor. If your state requires an approved pre-licensing course, this does not satisfy it.
The exam
- How long is the Texas P&C exam, and how many questions?
- 145 items in 150 minutes. 130 of them are scored — the rest are unscored pretest items, and you are not told which is which. What a sitting looks like
- What score do I need to pass?
- 70%, which is 91 of the 130 scored items. The unscored pretest items do not count either way.
- Is the exam fee included in what I pay you?
- No. Sitting the exam costs $49 every attempt, paid to Pearson VUE, and the license application is a separate fee paid to the department. What you pay us buys the practice, not the sitting. The fees, as the department gives them
- Does Texas require pre-licensing education for a property and casualty license?
- The Texas Department of Insurance's application page for the general lines property and casualty license does not list a pre-licensing education course among its steps. Because that is an absence rather than an explicit statement, confirm it with TDI before relying on it. What is and is not required
Buying and access
- Is this a subscription?
- No. It is one payment of $29 for six months of full access. Nothing renews, nothing is charged again, and there is no card on file to cancel. What is included
- What happens when the six months are up?
- Access to the paid features stops — practice, drills, the timed simulator and your readiness score. Your account stays, and so does everything you have answered. If you buy again later it is all still there.
- Can I get a refund?
- Yes, within seven days of buying, no questions asked. Email us from the address on your account. We do not ask why and we do not ask you to prove you studied. Seven days is measured from when the payment went through, not from when you first used it. The full refund policy
